Associate Health Minister, the Honourable Peeni Henare visits Three Rivers Medical

Associate Health Minister, the Honourable Peeni Henare visited Gisborne and Three Rivers Medical on Thursday the 14th October 2021 to discuss the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination in Te Tairawhiti.



In official attendance with the Minister, was his Ministerial team which included: Tamati Shepherd-Wipiiti (GM – Equity, MoH), Clyde Smith (Private Secretary, Office of Hon Peeni Henare) and Irena Smith (Press Secretary, Office of Hon Peeni Henare).

In attendance from Three Rivers Medical, was Owner Doctors: Dr Fergus Aitcheson, Dr Hiria Nielsen, Dr Tom James, and Dr Simons Spenceley, as well as Heather Besseling (Lead Nurse) and Lisa Hamblin (Ops Manager).

The meeting started with an opening Karakia, followed by whakawhanaungatanga (The process of establishing relationships).

Hon Minister Henare addressed the attendees regarding the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination in Te Tairawhiti. 

Within his address he acknowledged General Practice as a key element to the health and wellbeing of Maori communities.

Opportunity was then given for each person to share whakairo (thought/consider).

By the wrap up of the meeting, there was a general consensus that the shared ideas and time together was progressive and beneficial.
