Keisha Karaitiana - Receptionist
A return to Gisborne in 2009 interrupted Keisha’s Bachelor of Arts degree in Wellington, but she started work on reception at KMC then met a man she is getting married to over Labour weekend 2012, and thought she would give Gisborne another go.
With her father’s whakapapa taking in Rongowhakaata,Tuwharetoa and Ngati Kahungungu, and her mother’s with Ngati Porou and Tuhoe, Keisha is as local as you can get, and enjoys being home more than she did when she left.
“As you get older and travel, you appreciate Gisborne more and more, and my family and friends here.”
She wants to pursue a career in health, whether eventually as a nurse or a manager.
“You have people’s lives in your hands, and can really help them if you provide a really good care.”
Three Rivers Medical believes really happy staff provide really great care, and Keisha enjoys her work with the team.
“I’m pretty happy to be here, and mostly I love my job. You do get the odd angry person, but they soon simmer down.
“Out of everywhere I have worked this is by far the best – it’s a close-knit family group.”
As well as planning her wedding, Keisha stays active walking, doing Powerplate and playing netball.
