Three Rivers Medical welcomes Zhanquin Kerr.
After years of working on a busy supermarket counter, Zhanquin Kerr is used to a hectic schedule.
“I really enjoy working with people so you learn to manage it,” says Three Rivers Medical's newest administration assistant.
“I've always worked in customer service, but the difference here is that you might spend a bit longer with each person to find out just what they need and how you can help.”
Twenty-four-year-old Zhanquin (Te Aitanga a Mahaki/Te Whanau-a-Kai) carries out tasks from greeting patients to scheduling appointments and carrying out routine administration.
“There's a lot to learn in the health system and because people come to you because they need help, you feel a real responsibility to help them through that,” she says.
As well as helping people with their immediate problem, it is important to make sure they feel comfortable and safe,” Zhanquin adds. “It's a great feeling being able to help people, and knowing you can make a difference.”
