Julie Abrahams

Julie initially trained as an enrolled nurse.

She graduated in 1986 and returned home to Gisborne in 1989, where she worked for 15 years at Gisborne Hospital and Gisborne's private Chelsea Hospital while raising her three children. She completed her nursing degree in 2004 and joined the Three Rivers Medical team soon after that as a practice nurse. "I enjoy it here. It’s a good friendly working environment; and the nurses work as a real team.”

With her children heavily involved in surf lifesaving and kayaking, the Abrahams family spend a lot of the summer at the beach. “Generally it’s been good living in Gisborne, although sometimes it feels a bit isolated. In the winter we bed down a bit and pray for the shortest day to come so we know summers getting closer!”
