Anahera Mohi has all the qualities needed to make an excellent Health Care Assistant (HCA). She is a people person but also very organised and excellent at administration.
“I always like to learn new things and improve my skills. At Silverdale I asked one of the doctors if I could assist with minor surgeries and that led to them training me as a HCA.”

A welcome addition to the medical team at Three Rivers, Anahera does everything from restocking supplies to assisting the nurses with patients and medical administration.
“I am here to assist the medical team to make the process run smoothly. By doing the pre-appointment tasks with the patients it means they can get more value from the time they have with the doctors and nurses,” she says.
Anahera was born and raised in Pukehina in the Bay of Plenty and started working in healthcare in Te Puke at the Waitaha Health Centre. She later received her HCA training at the Silverdale Medical Centre in Auckland.
Describing herself as a hands-on learner, Anahera said she was nosy and liked to know how things were done.
She loves sport and has played club rugby for Rangiuru and representative rugby for the Volcanix. She pursued rugby league for a few years and moved to Auckland to play for the Roses. She was selected to try out for the Brisbane Broncos in 2020 but after her first training session the Covid pandemic hit and she decided to return to New Zealand to be with family.
More recently she has done attended coaching wananga through New Zealand Maori rugby and will look into coaching roles in Gisborne.
She and her partner moved to Gisborne a month ago with their son and are settling into work and whanau life.
“It’s a great team here at Three Rivers – I feel supported and heard.”
“It’s good to be able to lighten the load on the nurses so they can have more time with the patients.
“I love living in Gisborne and the work life balance we have here. It means we’re spending more time with our son and less time commuting.”
